Turn any place on Earth into a 3D printable map

maps23d builds a real 3D model of any piece of ground: mountains and valleys from elevation data, plus buildings, roads, trees, lakes and your own GPS routes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and costs nothing.

What you can make

How it works

  1. Pick the ground. Search a place, move the map under the frame, choose a shape (square, wide, round, hexagon or a free rectangle) and turn it to any angle.
  2. Shape the model. Set terrain height, surface (satellite, topo, streets, relief shading or contours), layers, base, frame and lettering. Everything updates as you change it.
  3. Download and print. 3MF for multicolor printing, STL for a single color, GLB or OBJ for Blender and game engines, DXF for CAD.

Built for 3D printing

Every part of the model is a closed, watertight solid with outward-facing triangles, checked automatically: terrain, base, frame, raised text, roads, water, trees and imported shapes. Tiny roads and buildings can be thickened so a 0.4 mm nozzle can actually print them. Printer presets tell you whether the model fits your bed, and the tile splitter handles anything larger.

Where the data comes from

Elevation comes from AWS Terrain Tiles with Mapterhorn as a backup. Buildings, roads, water, forests and routes come from OpenStreetMap, through the public Overpass servers. Surfaces come from Esri imagery, and the street basemap from OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles. Each source keeps its own licence, and the terms page explains what that means if you sell prints.

Common questions

Is it free? Yes, and there is no account, no watermark and no export limit.

Does my data get uploaded? No. Models are built inside your browser, and GeoJSON, GPX and KML files you open never leave your device.

How big an area can I use? Up to about 2,500 km across for terrain. Buildings, roads and trees are available for areas up to 100 km².

Which printers work? Any of them. Presets cover Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality and Elegoo, and you can set a custom size.
